This summer, I am working at The Hartford in the Technology Leadership Development Program as a Project Control Analyst. In my assignment, I am re-creating an Access database used for staffing purposes in one of the largest projects in the company, so that it is more efficient and has a wider range of functionality. What sort of coursework and/or internship experiences would be helpful in landing a job in your field?
There are many different aspects of marketing. The value in interning is gaining office experience and taking the time to explore these different aspects. The same goes for classes – diversify your experiences so that you have a better sense of which pieces of your field actually interest you.

Work hard and find the lesson out of all experiences. You’ll have many challenging times but that means you’re growing. Don’t be afraid of these challenges or of making mistakes – we all do it! And we’re all better professionals and better people for it.
What advice do you have for students considering your major (or minor)?
My advice would be to research what you are truly interested in and match it to a potential career path. I have always been really interested in working within the fashion industry and found the most potential to explore my interests further by pursuing an IDCC degree.
