POSITION SUMMARY:
Quincy Mutual Group is seeking a motivated Underwriting Intern to join our team for the summer. This internship is designed for students with analytical and research skills who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in the property casualty insurance industry. The intern will be responsible for conducting market research, documentation, and analysis to support our underwriting strategies and decision-making processes. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about insurance products, underwriting principles, and the factors influencing the insurance industry.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Market Research and Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research to understand trends, opportunities, and challenges in the personal auto industry. This includes analyzing the changes and developments in newer vehicle models as well as aligning the trends in costs of repair to nationwide indexes.
- Research Documentation: Assist in the creation and maintenance of underwriting documents, policies, and guidelines. Ensure documentation provides a thorough summary of the work completed throughout the internship.
- Data Analysis: Work with the Underwriting team to analyze data related to insurance claims and industry trends. Utilize analytical tools to derive insights that inform underwriting decisions.
- Project Support: Participate in recurring touchpoints with Underwriting stakeholders to provide and receive feedback on the internship process and adjust as necessary.
- Project Conclusion: Provide a final summary to key stakeholders detailing the work conducted, documentation created, and final recommendations for the company.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Education:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Characteristics:
- Detail-oriented, with a strong ability to organize and prioritize tasks.

This position follows a hybrid work schedule with three days in the office – Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Additional in-office days may be required as needed throughout the internship.
