Handshake is Bentley’s premier platform to connect Falcons to employers, so definitely make sure that you’ve created your account and are following new job postings, messages from recruiters, and checking out the resources added by the Pulsifer Career Development Center! However, there’s a caveat for doing everything professionally through Handshake: some employers primarily use their own websites to recruit. So here are three steps to ensure that your application gets through!
- Look through the Handshake job posting to see if there are additional notes, such as reapplying on a different platform (such as the company’s own website, a third-party platform like Indeed, or somewhere else.
- If you have time, it does not hurt to double-apply directly through the firm’s career platform.
- Message a contact or recruiter of the firm and see if there is a preferred place to apply. In conversations at career fairs, students have previously been told by some companies to apply via multiple platforms.
