Reporting to the Graphic and Digital Design Manager, the Graphic and Digital Designer is responsible for supporting the execution of graphic and digital communication strategies in close co-operation with Development and Communications staff that support Fenway’s mission and the work of its various departments and divisions.

Representative Duties:

  1. Web Design & Development
  • Design and develop front-end web collateral using HTML, CSS & JavaScript
  • Maintain websites using a variety of content management and software systems, including but not limited to Convio, and WordPress web management platforms.
  • Design and develop online communications, marketing, event and fundraising campaigns in conjunction with other Communications staff.
  • Perform time-sensitive updates to online content
  • Create email communications pieces according to established deadlines
  • Create & Implement new modules, features and UI improvements as needed
  • Create online advertising banners for Fenway programs, services and research studies
  • Design and implement content for Fenway websites, including microsites & landing pages for different programs across the organization
  • Maintain a working knowledge of web best practices and emerging technologies.

2. Graphic Design

  • Prepare design concepts, and layouts based on the needs and direction of various stakeholders
  • Illustrate charts, graphs, and infographics using appropriate techniques
  • Acquire and Catalog appropriate stock images to supplement Fenway’s existing image library
  • Provide general graphic design support as needed
  • Generate still and animated graphics for use on electronic publications, including Fenway’s various web sites and email communications
  • Generate print-ready files and coordinate file delivery with print vendors
  • Review and provide feedback on printed proofs
  • Manage internal client needs and expectations while adhering to design best practices and adhering to Fenway brand guidelines
  • Maintain a working knowledge of print best practices

3. Sharepoint Intranet Support

  • Support the Web Development manager in administering and maintaining Fenway Health’s internal facing Sharepoint staff intranet site

4. Photography & Video Production

  • Serve as Communications Department photographer and videographer
  • Provide image and video editing and production in support of organizations communications objectives
  • Support direction of other photographer(s), providing coverage of Fenway events and gatherings

5. Meets Agency Participatory Expectations

  • Suggests and participates in continuing quality improvement efforts
  • Adheres to all agency and departmental policies and procedures
  • Participates in quality assessment and improvement activities as requested
  • Adheres to the highest principles of patient and client confidentiality
  • Adheres to established safety policies, procedures and precautions; identifies potential or actual unsafe situations in the environment and takes measures to rectify the situation
  • Attends all required meetings, in-services and professional trainings
  • Attends all regularly scheduled research meetings, trainings, forums and pertinent FCH staff meetings
  • Maintains professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activities
  • Serves on agency committees and in professional organizations when requested

6. Performs other related duties as required

Requirements

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in design, communications or a related field is required
  • Minimum of two years web and graphic design experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe applications, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign & Dreamweaver
  • Intermediate knowledge of HTML, CSS and Email development
  • Ability to take items from concept to production in a smart, efficient manner
  • Experience working with WordPress or other popular CMS platforms is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, maintaining deadlines and a careful attention to detail while working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to manage feedback from various sources in a constructive manner
  • Experience working with an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse work staff is preferred
  • Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals required
