Job Description
The ITS Department consists of 6 areas of support.
- The Help Desk Team is the face of ITS. We are the team that answers your calls and provides you with the help you need.
- The Help Desk Team handles all user related technology support requests, equipment issue and replacement, and all desktop application installations.
- The Technology Services Team manages and maintains the network, servers and endpoints (desktops, laptops, printers, phones and smart phones, etc.). Our number one goal is to support the users and allow for a trouble free experience by building and maintaining a secure, robust, reliable and redundant network. Our team strives at being responsive to supporting users, and helping to fulfill the needs of all BPHC staff.
- The Enterprise Applications Team is the primary resource for the planning, implementation, support and backup of both internally and externally hosted data collection applications, data exchange systems and information resources for the Commission. Supported systems and applications include: ETO, GIS, Carelogic, GP, SSRS, Contract Tracking, Streem Alert, SAS, R and the internal and external websites.
- The Information Security Team works with the BPHC community to secure system and network resources, and protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of clients, and staff information.
- ITS Projects provides staff with an overview of all active ITS Projects and includes information on project status, dependencies, project contacts and more.
- Data modernization: This program helps you in planning and implementing Data Governance which includes improving data quality, breaking data silos and increasing data sharing capabilities, building the right data architecture for better analytics and reporting by using advanced tools and technology in cloud platforms.
DUTIES:
- Working to help BPHC become an antiracist organization by meeting or exceeding the standards set by the BPHC Anti-Racism Policy.
- The System and Cloud Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Azure and Office 365 Environment, server, and storage infrastructure, which includes the establishment of best practices and procedures to ensure the optimal level of performance, availability and recoverability of all facets of the Commission’s infrastructure environment. Required to participate in on-call rotation.
- Perform all administrative tasks needed to manage and maintain Office 365, Microsoft CoPilot and Azure cloud services.
- Perform daily system monitoring and maintenance verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
- Provide tiered support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
- Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning. Install new / rebuild existing servers on premise and within Azure Cloud. Configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project operational requirements
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required. Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures
- Collaborate with the networking team in the troubleshooting and resolution of escalated server, messaging and application related issues
- Works in confidential capacity with Technical Services Director Operates independently. Uses independent judgment and discretion to make decisions affecting the department and staff as it relates to unit operations/services and BPHC policy. Other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Passionate commitment to health equity and racial/social justice issues.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the role of public health in addressing racism, the social determinants of health, and inequities in health outcomes as well as strategies to advance racial justice and health equity.
- BA/BS degree and 2 years of experience in a Microsoft environment with Active Directory OR 6 years in lieu of experience. Experience with SCCM a plus. Experience with virtualization technology including but not limited to Hyper-V and VMWare.
Preferred or Plus:
- Demonstrated formal or informal social justice advocacy experience and/or community organizing/mobilization experience.
- Exposure to other technologies, such as Linux, Symantec Netbackup, Microsoft Certifications a plus
