A joint Bentley University and Northeastern University team won the first annual commodity track in the Student Cluster Competition at SC 13 in Denver, Colorado last week. The winning Bentley/Northeastern student-designed cluster computer was assembled for less than $2,500 and consumed less than 15 Amps of current (less than your home washing machine). Last week, a group of 35 Bentley students, accompanied by Professor Ahmed traveled into Cambridge to visit Akamai’s Network Operations Command Center, and receive networking advice from Bentley alum working at Akamai. The group was led on the tour by Bentley alum, Chris Meyfarth, who explained quite a bit about Akamai’s strategy.
