Julia Paradis

Think Tank Consultant

Julia Paradis

Hello everyone! My name is Julia Paradis and I am currently a senior Information Design and Corporate Communication major here at Bentley. You’ve probably seen my name all over CareerEdge and the emails we send you all for the last couple of years, and now you know the face behind the name! I’ve been working at CareerEdge for almost three years, and have really enjoyed working alongside Alyssa Hammond and the other Career Services advisors to make Undergraduate Career Services better and better. When I look back at what the office was like my sophomore year when I started working here, it is totally different, and I am so proud of all of the changes and improvements we have made to how we do things and how we work with students. But, there is always more to be done!

Currently, I am a Think Tank Consultant here at Career Services. I still help manage CareerEdge, but my main focus has shifted to more of a research position. Halley and I are work with the advisors to identify holes in their programs and areas of improvement throughout our office. We then research the issue, hold focus groups, talk to students, and try to understand the issue and figure out the best way to fix it. If you see us sitting at the tables in the lobby typing away, we’re problem solving, so come and say hi!

Besides my life here at Career Services, last semester, I studied abroad at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. I played frisbee with the ultimate team at Glasgow Uni, took a bagpipes class and actually learned to play the pipes at the National Piping Centre, and traveled to 12 countries and saw most of Scotland. I did not find Nessie though, so I will have to go back. I also play on the Ultimate Frisbee team here at Bentley as well. I love learning the in’s and out’s of the game and getting better everyday. In my free time, I love musicals, reading, and all things Harry Potter.

On campus, I am also an FYS instructor and a Service Learning PM. My program is Fitzgerald Drama, and we go to Fitzgerald Elementary School and help the kids prepare a musical! For my experience, I have had a lot of cool internship experiences in my three plus years at Bentley. Freshmen year, I worked at Gulf Oil, and traveled to 11 states as a Brand Ambassador for them and raised $15,000 for their breast cancer campaign. Sophomore year, I was awarded the Ferrera Fellowship, a $2,500 grant to work at a non-profit organization of my choice. I spent the summer at Global Smile Foundation as a Marketing and Strategy Intern, and crafted mission checklists, improved social media, and wrote grants to increase funding. Last year, I was an Information Systems Intern at Boston Scientific, and helped drive a server shutdown initiative that saved BSC over $24,000!

Though I’m not a Career Colleague, editing resumes is one of my favorite pastimes (I’m a nerd, I know). If you have a resume question and there are no colleagues around, I’d love to help out!
