Finance, Corporate Finance & Accounting, and FinTech Students,
It’s hard to believe, but we’re now past the 4th of July – and recruiting season is quickly approaching. Opportunities will begin to open soon (if they haven’t already), and timelines can move fast.
The question to be asking yourself right now: are you ready?
One of the most important steps you can take at this point is to ensure your resume is recruiting-ready.
📌 HERE’S WHAT YOU SHOULD BE FOCUSING ON NOW:
- Follow one of the standard resume templates
- Apply the resume guidelines in the Launch Your Finance Career Guide
- Continue to improve content, formatting, and clarity
- Most importantly: your resume should now reflect meaningful, results-oriented bullet points
At this stage of the summer, if you’re completing an internship or other experience, you should be able to add substantive bullets that clearly show what you’ve done and what you’ve learned – not just responsibilities, but contributions and outcomes.
🏢 READY FOR FEEDBACK? WE’RE HERE TO HELP.
If you’ve put in the work, schedule an appointment with us for a resume review. This is a collaborative process – we’re happy to help you refine your resume. Availability is still relatively open, but that will change quickly as we get closer to the semester.
📣 A QUICK (AND IMPORTANT) REMINDER ON RECRUITING TIMELINES
Recruiting is no longer “far away.” Many roles will begin opening now and over the coming weeks.
Stated deadlines are not guarantees. Many companies operate on a rolling basis, meaning applications are reviewed as they come in and positions may be filled well before the posted deadline. Some applications may close earlier than expected once a strong candidate pool is reached.
Your best strategy: apply early – and be ready to do so. Being among the first applicants can meaningfully improve your chances of being reviewed.
TO STAY IN THE LOOP:
- Follow companies on LinkedIn (and consider following key recruiters)
- Subscribe to “Talent Communities” or mailing lists on company websites
- Follow companies on Handshake
These are simple steps, but they ensure you see opportunities as soon as they’re posted, which matters more now than ever.
The summer is moving quickly, and recruiting will be here before you know it. Taking action now – especially getting your resume in a strong place – will make a meaningful difference in how prepared and confident you feel when opportunities open.
