If you are hoping to land an internship or full time role in consulting next year, you should be working on your recruitment NOW! Deadlines for firms are opening as early as JUNE! Here are some things that you should be working on:
- Networking: As Bentley is not a target organization for many organizations, getting an internal referral is CRITICAL to landing a coveted interview slot. If you are unclear on how to approach this step – we have a resource that can help! In the Management Consulted Portal, which you have access to when you register via the Bentley specific link, there is an EXTENSIVE networking lesson plan (found under “Application Help”) that I strongly suggest you check out! Plan your strategy NOW and dedicate time to this every week!
- Resume Prep: Your resume needs to be updated and employer ready before submission! IF you have not had your latest version checked, you NEED to make an appointment with your Career Advisor STAT!
- Preparation for Case Interviews: Top performance in case interviews takes time and preparation. This is not something that I recommend beginning to consider only when you know you have an interview — that is simply not adequate time! This summer, consider USING THE MANAGEMENT CONSULTED CASE PREP portal! Don’t have any experience with case interviews? Start with the Case Interview Bootcamp! If you have good knowledge of casing and need practice, use some of there drills, or extensive case library to practice on your own or with your peers! The portal even provides case prep plans that you can follow, given how much time you have before a case interview. Plan time weekly to dedicate to this very specialized interview preparation!
- Do not forget to prep for FIT interviews: Often students focus so intently on the Case Interviews, they forget the FIT interviews are equally weighted. Again, Management Consulted’s portal has some great resources to prep for these.
- Keep an eye on the deadlines! Check the websites of your target firms often to see when applications are released! Recruitment will be from summer through EARLY fall, so it is critical to be prepared
