Talcott Financial Group’s Actuarial Career Showcase is designed to introduce aspiring actuaries to the world of actuarial science. During this event, attendees will join a highly respected actuarial community for one day, participate in an actuarial case study, and experience a day in the office of a leading life and annuity insurer.
Attendees of the Career Showcase receive insights from presentations covering the finances and profitability of an insurance company, typical functions and responsibilities of actuaries, and Talcott’s Actuarial Internship Program. Presentations are led by actuaries from our Actuarial,
Enterprise Risk Management, or Investment Management teams. Attendees gain exposure to actuarial functions such as pricing, modeling, financial valuation, and risk assessment, as well as background on product lines such as variable annuities, fixed annuities, and universal life insurance.
The Career Showcase culminates with an opportunity for attendees to tackle a real business problem and present solutions to actuarial leaders. Networking and mentoring occur throughout the day, including through an impactful panel discussion with Talcott’s early career actuarial
professionals.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Business or similar concentration
- Desire to sit for Actuarial exams
- Demonstrated drive for continuous learning and growth
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
