How to Work an In-Person Career Fair

The Fall Career Fair is back to in-person and is better than ever! We have over a hundred recruiters attending and can’t wait to see it all in action this upcoming Wednesday, September 28th in the Bentley arena.

For most undergraduate students, it will be your first time attending an in-person career fair. No need to worry, keep on reading to learn some tips and tricks.

  1. Wear professional attire

For this Career Fair, you are going to want to pull out your best suit or dress from your closet because you are going to need it! First impressions are important, and the best way to make an impact is to look your best. So, if needed, take this weekend to go on a shopping trip because if you feel confident you will look confident.

If you need some more pointers, check out our dress for success guide here.

  1. Be patient and respectful

Along with dressing professionally, your attitude is going to be an important factor in your success. The arena is going to be packed, and chances are you are going to be waiting in line for a while and not have much time to speak with recruiters. So, make the most of your time. Keep a smiling face on and always thank them and tell them you appreciate them taking the time to talk to you. Expressing gratitude is so important nowadays and doing so can very likely set you apart from your peers.

  1. Bring your resume

Since this Career Fair is in-person, make sure to bring lots of copies of your resume! Handing one to a recruiter will give them more context about you and your background. As stated previously, you are not going to have much time to speak to the recruiters. So, hand them your resume by saying “here is some more information about me.” This way, you do not feel pressured to mention every little detail about yourself in such a short amount of time.

The Career Fair is a place for Falcons to shine! We want all of you to be successful and prepared. So, keep up to date on the happenings and follow these steps so when you step into the arena on Wednesday, you are completely confident.
