Applications For The Spencer Educational Foundation Scholarships Are Open!

Scholarship Opportunity Alert! The Spencer Educational Foundation awards merit-based Undergraduate, Full-Time Master’s, Part-Time Master’s and PhD scholarships to students who demonstrate a passion for Risk Management and Insurance. The application for the 2022-2023 academic year is currently open, with a January 31st, 2022 deadline. To apply, click HERE.

Why Apply for a Spencer Scholarship?

  1. Not only does receiving a Spencer Scholarship reduce the financial pressure of tuition, but it is also a prestigious honor.
  2. More than 1300 individuals have received scholarships from Spencer since 1980, and 85% of recipients stay in the industry. That’s a big network to be a part of!
  3. All Undergraduate scholarship recipients are also given the opportunity to be partnered with an alumni mentor who is currently in the industry.
  4. Eligibility Requirements:

Undergraduate Scholarship Applicants – Undergraduate Spencer scholarships are awarded in the amount of $5,000, with limited $7,500 and $10,000 scholarships awarded to the highest-ranked applicants. Spencer awards scholarships to full-time undergraduate students who meet the following criteria:

  • Must seek a career in Risk Management/Insurance.
  • Must be enrolled at an accredited college/university in the United States or Canada for the full 2022-23 academic year (at least 2 semesters, from September 2022-May 2023).
  • Relevant work/internship experience and leadership skills preferred.
  • Must be majoring/minoring in Risk Management/Insurance or a related field of study (e.g., actuarial science, business, finance, information technology). A Risk Management/Insurance major/minor is preferred, but applicants in related fields of study will be considered.

Full-Time Master’s Scholarship Applicants – Spencer awards $10,000 scholarships to full-time students pursuing a master’s degree who meet the following criteria:

  • Must seek a career in Risk Management/Insurance.
  • Must be enrolled full-time (12 hours or more per semester) at an accredited college/university in the United States or Canada for the full 2022-23 academic year (at least 2 semesters, from September 2022-May 2023).
  • Relevant work/internship experience and leadership skills preferred.
  • Must be majoring/minoring in Risk Management/Insurance or a related field of study (e.g., actuarial science, business, finance, information technology). A Risk Management/Insurance major/minor is preferred, but applicants in related fields of study will be considered.

Part-Time Master’s Scholarship Applicants – Spencer awards Part-time Master’s Scholarships of up to $10,000 to risk practitioners who attend graduate school part-time while working full-time. Spencer award scholarships to Part-Time Master’s students who meet the following criteria:

  • Must be enrolled part-time (12 hours or more per year) while working as a risk practitioner full-time.
  • Must be studying Risk Management/Insurance or a related field of study.
  • Must provide documentation outlining employer’s tuition reimbursement policy.

PhD Candidates – Spencer awards $10,000 scholarships to pre-dissertation Ph.D. Candidates and Doctoral Candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Must be enrolled full-time (12 hours or more per semester) at an accredited college/university in the United States or Canada for the full 2022-23 academic year (at least 2 semesters, from September 2022-May 2023).
  • Must be studying Risk Management/Insurance
