Career Inspiration From The Year of 2020-2021

The 2020-2021 academic year has been extremely difficult. In our Bentley community, it has been hard on faculty and, of course, the students. This past year and during the beginning of 2021, the entire university had to figure out the logistics to go fully virtual and students had to adjust to at least some level of online learning. For the Career Development Center, this change also meant that in-person networking and recruiting events had to be replaced with virtual ones, evident in the very successful virtual Career Fairs both the fall and the spring. Nobody’s saying it hasn’t been hard on all of us. But… We’re doing it!

Take a moment and think about everything you’ve personally achieved this past year and a half. Despite the obstacles, of which there were many. How much you’ve learned, despite not seeing your professors in person. Or maybe, how much harder you had to work in the case that online learning was simply harder for you to retain. Think about how many employer-hosted career events you went to and the virtual interviews you might have done. Reflect on any offers you may have received. Getting a job is impressive under any circumstances but especially in a pandemic.

Let’s give a well-deserved round of applause to Bentley’s Class of 2020, of who 98% are employed or attending (or intending to attend) graduate school, DESPITE the ongoing international crisis of COVID-19. Bentley Falcons are not only persevering but thriving in such a difficult environment, and because of that, for all the sadness we have for this year turning out the way it did, we should have just as much pride. Because for every one thing that was out of our control, there was something in our control that we absolutely excelled in. A degree from Bentley has proven to be just as valuable as ever, making our college choice an investment that we can be proud of. We all grew and learned and adapted during this year. There are only a few weeks left in the semester, so let’s keep it going.

Here are some inspirational quotes to get us to the finish line:
