Alpha Kappa Psi & CAREER SUCCESS!

Back at it again with another campus organization highlight! BIG’s a tough act to follow, but Alpha Kappa Psi is up for the challenge. AKPsi is a business fraternity here at Bentley, whose purpose is to develop members personally and professionally, giving them a network of successful professionals to learn from.

Some skills that are gained specifically from joining AKPsi are:

  • Resume Building
  • Interviewing Skills
  • Presentation Skills
  • Interpersonal Communication
  • Teamwork Skills
  • Leadership Skills
  • Networking Skills
  • Social Development
  • And Many More

These soft skills are all extremely important to get a job in any field, but for the technical skills that you might need and that do vary major-by-major, AKPsi has a network that can always help tutor and mentor you.

Is this organization only about working hard? Is there more to it?

While AKPsi members are all extremely hard-working and high-achieving individuals, the organization does lots of fun stuff. There’s a notable yearly apple picking trip! Additionally, AKPsi gives back and has raised thousands of dollars for Relay for Life, Doctors Without Borders, Best Buddies, Watertown Food Pantry, and more. These community service initiatives show that AKPsi isn’t just about helping its own members succeed, but sharing their success with others and helping those more in need.

Can anybody speak to the success they’ve seen from being in AKPsi?

Yes, we have Kolton Vining, the current President of AKPsi, who is a junior CFA major in the Advanced Standing in Finance Program! He mentions that the very strong alumni network frequently returns to give current members advice. Kolton was also able to reach out to AKPsi alumni to network and received multiple internship offers with the help of these connections. AKPsi is a close community that helps and truly empowers each other.

Kolton advises students who want to get involved to be on the lookout for events open to the public to see what AKPsi does and believes in. Also, come to the rush events in the fall if you think that you want to be a future member of this awesome org!

Final thoughts?

Kolton says “[AKPsi] is looking for anyone who is true to themselves and wants to further their personal development and become part of a tight-knit community!” To listen to his call, check out the organization on Campus Groups
