Career Collectives: Sustainability Community

Sustainability is all about focusing on the triple bottom line, people, profit, and planet.  This means a company’s sole priority is not just making money, but ensuring business operations give back to those who helped make it all happen: the people and the planet.

Sustainability is important across all industries.  We only have one planet, and many companies damage it without regard, which inevitably hurts their reputation, and profits.  Are you trying to be more sustainable? Check out these resources for some inspiration:

Book: Philosophy of Management and Sustainability: Rethinking Business Ethics and Social Responsibility in Sustainable Development by Jacob Dahl Rendtorff

This book touches a lot of really great topics from business ethics and corporate social responsibility.  These are topics that everyone is taught about in school but with the topic of sustainability more important than ever, they have been reshaped to protect both the people and the planet.

This podcast features a new expert each podcast, which is produced weekly by experienced interviews and professionals.  With respect to context, it discusses in-depth challenges around sustainability and identifying what needs to change in order for major corporations to prioritize what really matters.

Movie: Food Inc.

It may not be categorized as psychological thriller, but this movie makes the viewer really consider if eating meat is essential, as it completely exposes the corporate food industry.  This movie candidly examines our eating habits and the factories where what we eat is produced.
