Advice from the Career Colleagues

The Career Colleagues team is a group of students on campus who work within the Undergraduate Career Services Office. Since the team works daily with everything and anything career related, they are a great source of advice because they have seen the good, the bad and the ugly, when it comes to your career. Here are a few pieces of advice each team member wanted to share with the larger Bentley community:

“My best piece of advice is that it’s okay to not know what you want to do with your career or your time here at Bentley. As a freshman, I was a finance major, and then ended up switching my major two more times before I finally found Marketing. At Bentley, there is a lot of pressure to be successful and have a plan figured out, but part of the journey to success is discovering yourself and what your passion/niche is!”

  •  Courtney Copelas, Major: Marketing

“The people around you are your ticket to anything you want to do, any person you want to meet, and any goal you want to achieve.  Not enough students and professionals truly utilize their human network putting them at a disadvantage.  If you want something, ask, and if you continue to do so, you will always find your way to the person who can help.”

  • Julia Keymakh, Major: Accountancy and Minor: English & Media Studies

“My career advice is to start early. While extracurriculars are fantastic it is just important to gain experience. I recommend trying to find time to do an internship during the school year because you are gaining experience before your summer work, more opportunity for internships can turn into a job and you’ll be making money during the school year.”

  • Tyler Holbert-Catania, Major: Economics-Finance and Minor: Public Policy and Law
