Are you interested in actuarial science, risk management, and/or the insurance industry? If so, please read!

I wanted to bring to your attention a new organization on campus that a group of students have worked very hard to bring to campus over the past year, Gamma Iota Sigma.

Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS) is an international business fraternity for students interested in actuarial science, risk management, and/or the insurance industry. GIS holds national and regional conferences that members can attend to learn more about these fields, network with others who share these interests, and attend career fairs as an opportunity to obtain an internship/job. Moreover, Gamma Iota Sigma also has a very strong alumni network to keep students involved even after they graduate. Lastly, this organization typically participates in a few community service-related events throughout the year to benefit the surrounding community.

The recently established chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma at Bentley, is called the Gamma Rho chapter! Some events they anticipate having are: providing students the opportunity to attend conferences, having speakers from Gamma Iota Sigma visit Bentley to talk about the industry, assisting students with resources (resumes, cover letters, etc.) in order to obtain an actuarial-related internship/job, and more!

For students interested in becoming a member of this chapter, there are three requirements. First, fill out the following google form so the leaders of this organization can submit your application to the grand chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScCmYMvMBB8kJJnJTYrN3ogwg_-JUUYSobTi3Ex9oL3R0LLvQ/viewform?usp=sf_link

And it is a requirement to attend the chartering ceremony on Saturday February 29th. This is where the chapter is first established and new members are inducted. It is also a great opportunity to learn more about what Gamma Iota Sigma has to offer! Also, professionals from the industry will be at this event so it is a great opportunity to network. RSVP to the chartering ceremony using the following google form:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScAJ84ZEKw7DqQLLZeheh0hymY-LhRxvJl8QMjhuX3Egktjig/viewform?usp=sf_link

Finally, new members are charged a one-time fee of $50, which provides a lifetime affiliation with Gamma Iota Sigma!

Other than these small items, there are no requirements/restrictions to becoming a new member! If anyone has questions, please feel free to email the president of the Bentley organization, vespoli_jord@bentley.edu.

Don’t miss out on this great professional opportunity!
