Benjamin Wong – CIS Major, Class of 2020

Foundations Program Intern, Boston Office

My name is Benjamin Wong and I am a rising Senior at Bentley University majoring in Computer Information Systems. This summer I had the wonderful opportunity to work as a Consultant at Protiviti as a part of their new Foundations Program, which has allowed me to work on a wide range of projects ranging from Risk & Compliance to Internal Audit and Financial Advisory engagements. It allowed me the unique opportunity to explore and learn many back-end processes that support big businesses. Specifically, I provided comparative analysis and benchmarking on an Anti-Money Laundering Customer Risk Rating Model Validation as well as collaborated to develop Sarbanes-Oxley IT controls that were used at a client site during an IT audit.

While I did not get the chance to travel directly to client sites this summer, I was able to gain a lot of experience working remotely with team members – a valuable skill to develop in a globally digitalizing world. The dynamic atmosphere more than made up for this, however, as everyday felt fresh with new challenges and experiences. Of course, my favorite part of Protiviti is the phenomenal culture that everybody truly embodies throughout the organization. Ask anybody at Protiviti what their favorite part of the company is and the answer will almost always be “the people”. The summer flew by a little too fast, but I am never going to forget all the experiences and people I’ve met along the way.

Alaina Blanker – Master of Science in Business Analytics, Class of 2020

My name is Alaina Blanker & I am a Master of Science in Business Analytics candidate at Bentley’s Graduate School of Business. This summer I had the opportunity to intern at Protiviti, where I worked on a project in the Risk & Compliance solution. Specifically, I supported data validation testing on the client’s anti-money laundering system. At the start of the internship, myself and 230+ other interns attended The Intern Challenge in Orlando, FL for 10 days where we learned about Protiviti & how to be a consultant. It wasn’t a typical internship orientation – we had events like iOn Hunger, an Executive dinner, the Tiv Awards, & even a day spent at the Universal theme parks! For the remaining 8 weeks, I split my time between being at the Boston office, traveling to the client’s site in Ohio, & even going to Protiviti’s NYC office for a week. There were fun local events to attend with the entire Protiviti team – one of my favorite events was a Boston Harbor boat cruise. Overall, I got to contribute work that was valuable to my team & to the client, so the summer flew by!
