Connecting the Two Hubs of Planning For the Future: The Brain & Career Services

“There is no time to waste, and we cannot leave meaningful experiences to chance” says Susan Brennan,  Associate Vice President of University Career Services. In her latest article on LinkedIn, A Brain Based Approach to Integrating Career Services into the Higher Education Ecosystem, Susan breaks down how a students brain can be compared to college career services based off of the fact that both are “hubs for planning for the future.” Additionally, she mentions that during your 20’s, this is a time to learn, explore, and have meaningful experiences because this is the brains last growth spurt. Bentley’s Career Services quickly noticed the science and importance behind this learning growth spurt and has since provided a framework to empower students during their time in school and in their meaningful lifelong journeys. Susan emphasizes the need of career development during these first years of a student’s 20’s because the first 10 years of a person’s career will have exponential impact on their lifetime learning.
