Now’s the Time to Give Thanks!

It’s Thanksgiving week! It’s the perfect time of year to give thanks to our family, friends, and the other important people in our lives. If you’re wondering how to share how grateful you are to have someone in your life, all it takes is a brief email or text! It will surely make their day, and it’s always important to reflect on the impact your family and friends have on your life. This applies to your professional connections too, you can use this as an opportunity to stay in touch and update your network on your current career path status.

Throughout her career, Colleen Murphy, a Senior Associate Director of Undergraduate Career Services and one of our lovely Career Advisors, has used this time of year to give thanks to her network. She says that “saying thank you to your network doesn’t have to be a big undertaking, it can be as simple as a quick note to anyone who has helped you, guided you, gave you helpful resources and took the time to share information about their careers or opportunities in their organizations.” Colleen has found that her network is incredibly appreciate of this small gesture of gratitude, and it’s something she looks forward to every year.

So, if you made a good connection with a professional this year, or you haven’t been in touch with someone who helped you in the past, be sure to send a note of thanks and wish them well this holiday season. Let’s spread some holiday cheer and give thanks to both our professional and personal networks!
