Build an App with Mendix in the CIS Sandbox!

Interested in learning how to build a mobile app? Join the CIS Sandbox for their event on Wednesday, October 26th from 2:00 to 3:20 pm! The CIS Sandbox will be hosting Mendix, a Boston-based software company, for a two-part app-building workshop series. These workshops will walk students through how to use their web-based app development tool called Mendix Modeler. The second workshop will be held next Wednesday, November 1st from 2:00 to 3:20 pm.

The Mendix Modeler is a state of the art industry tool that is used worldwide by companies to build simple apps. This workshop will provide students with a rare inside look at the inter-workings of the software and students will be tasked with actually building a working app. This is the second time the CIS Sandbox will be hosting a Mendix workshop series. Last Spring, a Bentley Alumni who works at Mendix taught students how to build a task manager, which they then had access to via the internet.

No coding experience is required for this workshop. Students of all class years and majors are welcome! If you are interested in this event, the CIS Sandbox requests that you sign up ahead of time through their Facebook Event. If you plan on attending, be sure to bring your laptop!

While this is a great opportunity to learn industry-specific skills for app development, this is also a great networking opportunity! Julie Kukesh, the Director of Education and University Programs at Mendix will be leading the workshop. If you are interested in a career app-development or technology, this is a great way to get some hands-on experience!

If you are interested in similar events to this workshop, join Mendix for their “hackathon” on November 11th. The company will provide attendees with a two-hour training and then will task everyone with building an innovative app on their own in just a few hours.
