Prof. Ed Fredkin will discuss the capabilities of self-driving cars today, and what they may be capable of in the not-too-distant future. You’ll hear what he has to say about Elon Musk, and see his Tesla in the parking lot. Some lucky participants may go for a ride in his Tesla around campus.
Prof. Ed Fredkin served as the director of MIT’s Laboratory of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, and is a pioneer in robotics research. In 1967, he developed the first system with a computer controlled robotic arm along with a video input device for robotics research.
