Case Interview Tips from Vistaprint

Did you miss the How to Ace the Case interview workshop with Vistaprint?

Good news: there are videos from Vistaprint’s past presentations (as well as lists of sample case interview questions) available to you in BentleyLink’s Virtual Career Center.

More good news: below is a quick look at some of the takeaways from this week’s program.

5 Steps to Working Through a Case Interview*

  1. Repeat the question and state the objective
  2. Ask clarifying questions
  3. Organize your thoughts
  4. Share your thought process
  5. Summarize your findings and suggest a solution

Finally, remember that case interviews are not about solving for the right answer. Rather they are about the thought process you go through and your ability to solve problems logically and strategically (two things your Bentley classes have helped you prepare for since day one)! In order to ace your next case interview, it is helpful to have a few general stats memorized – perhaps US or Massachusetts population numbers – but it is not a deal breaker if you don’t have every number you need memorized. It is perfectly fine to make educated guesses as long as you explain your thinking and state your assumptions. The key is truly to be open and vocal in sharing your thought process.
