You miss the phone call, now what?

Alright, so you’ve heard the “keep your social media networks clean and classy” a million times in your young professional career, but now it’s time to take that one step further. Voicemail! When your future employer calls you for that all important “You’re hired” call, but you’re in class and surely don’t answer, do you really want them hearing you and your friends chuckling in the background or music blasting? The right answer is, no. Absolutely not. Your voicemail these days need to be set up with a personal, professional sounding message. Something along the lines of, “Thank you for calling, I am unable to answer my phone at the moment but please leave me your name and number and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks and have a nice day!”

Setting up your voicemail in a mature manner is very important these days, just like your social media, it is an extension of you. Some companies automatically disqualify you if your voicemail is not set up and if there is no room in it! So if you’re wondering why you haven’t heard back from a firm in two weeks, try cleaning out your old voicemail’s and setting up a professional message that you are proud of.

Good luck job hunting Falcons!
