Samantha Jutras shares her summer internship experience:
I just finished up my 2nd summer interning with Cimpress, the parent company of Vistaprint, located in Lexington, MA. My internship at Cimpress allowed me to gain real-world experience to build upon my classroom foundation of Human Resources Management. I had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in different functional areas of HR including benefits, compensation, recruiting, HR operations, employee relations, and HR business partnerships.
From day one at Cimpress I was empowered to take on real responsibility and trace the impact my actions have on the business. I conducted all voluntary exit meetings for all U.S. and European leavers. I then analyzed attrition and exit trends on a monthly and ad hoc basis and presented my findings to the VP level. These findings provided empirical support to drive change in the business and improve employee engagement and experience.
The most valuable experience from my internship was gaining exposure to different career paths in Human Resources. I was able to discover, prior to entering the workforce full-time, what areas interest me the most. I found my niche at the intersection of Employee Relations and HR Business Partnerships, and received a full time offer to start my career with Cimpress as an HR Advisor.
