Vistaprint – It’s not just for marketing majors!

vistaprint

This morning 16 undergraduate and graduate students visited Vistaprint in Lexington to meet with managers and alumni to learn how this $1 billion global marketing firm helps micro-businesses create professional marketing materials.  During the visit, Vistaprint made it clear that they are a fact-based, data-driven, highly analytical organization. (Note Math, Economics or Quantitative Perspectives majors – business analytics opportunities exist if you’re familiar with R, SAS, SPSS or Adobe/Google Analytics) But they also draw upon a smart, passionate and highly motivated talent pool including many Bentley alumni like Stephanie Kos ’14 (Managerial Economics) who kicked off the presentation.

To convey a small slice of their business, students were presented with a case study of how a commercial was developed involving collaboration among Global Marketing Strategy, Creative, Strategic Partnerships, Product Design and Merchandising business units. A second presentation focused on SEO and the powerful role that Organic Search plays within the firm. Attending students had done their homework and asked probing questions of their business model, interview process and hiring expectations.  A tour of their corporate headquarters was followed by a networking lunch with Bentley alumni.

Students were impressed with the cutting-edge marketing, extensive training and supportive culture. Perhaps most intriguing, however, were the benefits (in addition to highly competitive pay) that include an additional month off after 5 years, free breakfast Friday, food trucks, a fitness room, free drinks/snacks and Friday happy hour.
