The path to work for the Big Four

What is the typical career path for someone within an accounting firm?

A typical career path for someone attempting to work with a Big 4 accounting firm would include attending summer leadership programs (national or local level) during the summer of junior going into senior year; 2 years before you are eligible to work full time. Interviews for these programs occur in the spring semester. At these programs, students get exposed to the culture of the firms and to the different branches of practice. Do note that some firms, such as Deloitte, offer programs such as Alternative Spring Break trips for students to attend as early as freshman or sophomore year. While the application process tends to be very competitive for these programs, they offer excellent benefits. After the summer leadership programs, students will likely be offered an internship with the firms they attended programs with for the following summer. Provided students perform satisfactorily during the internship, the firm will likely make the student a full time offer before even starting their graduate degree.
