Network your butt off!

Network. Network. Network. I can’t stress that enough. GE is an enormous company and starting from the bottom, it is incredibly important to make personal connections with anyone and make them valuable: schedule 1-on-1’s to learn, follow-up with those you meet briefly, attend events, and make yourself approachable and personable in the workplace. More importantly though, have the work ethic and accountability to back it up!
