Welcome Back!
My name is Janet Ehl and I am Bentley University’s Director of Recruiting and Employer Relations and also the dedicated Career Adviser for CIS students or other majors with a strong tech interest in their career choice. I hope you all had a great summer and I look forward to working with you this year on your full-time or internship job search. Many companies hire CIS students in the fall for summer 2017 internships and for full time jobs for the May 2017 graduates…so your time is now!
A few dates to mark:
Friday 9/9/16 anytime between 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. in the CIS Sandbox – Smith 234 – I will be holding drop in hours for CIS students to kick off our fall season! I can answer any questions about job recruiting information, placement stats and salary information, networking events with employers, upcoming deadlines and tips for internship/job search success. Bring your resume to be reviewed. There will be pizza too.
Wednesday 9/21/16 Want some tips for success at the career fair? Then please attend “How to Prepare for the Career Fair” workshop in the Student Center BackBay rooms from 2:00-3:15.
Monday 9/26/16 Computer Information Systems/Math/Actuarial Sciences Networking Night (LAC 395 5:30-7:30) – @30 companies targeting interns and full-time hires! 5th annual networking night just for all of you! This is an important event to attend as many companies seek to connect with you early in the school year to hire for full time positions after you graduate or for summer internships. I have 30 companies registered and a wait list! Many students found jobs and internships from this event last year. I will finalize the brochure and have it to you by mid-September so you can do your research and prepare in advance. Business Attire and bring several hard copies of your resume.
Wednesday 9/28/16 Bentley Career Fair (Dana Center from 1:00 – 4:30) – 140+ employers
Business attire and bring several copies of your resume with you. THERE WILL NOT BE A HARD COPY BROCHURE – Please download the free app ‘Bentley Career Fair Plus to start doing your research. You can also view the companies that are registered to attend in BentleyLink under EVENTS and then CAREER FAIR to plan your time effectively.
We are trying something new this year for registering for the career fair. Instead of waiting in the line that day attend one of the “Fast Pass to the Career Fair” events. It won’t take long and you can register, get your name tag and a lanyard to put it in, ice cream… plus be entered into a raffle for an Apple Watch!
All Bentley students you just need to go to one:
Sept 14, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. LaCava Tent– ice cream and the raffle
Sept 19, 2016 from 5:00-700 p.m. in the Student Center – ice cream and the raffle
Job and Internship Postings – as I began reviewing jobs on BentleyLink it is apparent companies can’t wait to meet Bentley students as some job application deadlines for fall internships, post-graduation full time jobs and summer 2017 internships have an end date to “apply by” coming up quickly. Take a few minutes over the next week and see if any of these are of interest to you so you don’t miss out!
Employers on campus for various events –
More and more companies are seeking to engage with Bentley students in unique ways beyond traditional job posting and interviewing. We are coordinating events such as BBQs, EY petting zoo! ice cream socials, employer in residence office hours, career conversations, information tables, site visits, job shadows etc. There are already more than 35 events with companies scheduled to date for fall 2016. They are all in BentleyLink with full descriptions under the EVENT tab and then Workshops and Employer Events! The first one is going on right now in the LaCava tent with KMPG and they are almost daily after that – take a few minutes to go into BentleyLink and review, rsvp and mark your calendars so you don’t miss out.

Log into BentleyLink, click “My Account” (on left side of page) – then “Academic” & update your “Graduation Date” and “Year in School”. This will ensure you can view events that are relevant for you, apply to jobs/internships for your class year, and will also ensure your name tag prints out the correct information for you at the Career Fair
