ISAC majors have the Skills employers are looking for!

Skills

Information Systems Audit and Control (ISAC) majors are in demand!  I have been working with this population ever since it was created here at Bentley.  The number of students who are pursuing this major is not large, and I know for a fact, the employers who recruit at Bentley would love to see more!  Employers have told me time and time again that ISAC students have the skill set that is perfect for their positions.

I think the description on the Accountancy Department’s website of what an ISAC degree is, is so helpful to understand the major.  It states:

“We give you the flexibility to explore the fields of accounting and information technology within a single major through courses in accountancy, computer information systems, and information and process management. We start by teaching you accounting principles and concepts, followed by specialized studies in accounting information systems and auditing. Rounding out the curriculum are required courses on security, systems design and analysis, and data management.”

With this well-rounded academic background you will have many options with your career path.  Whether you want to pursue the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or the CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), with the right planning, they are both options.  Many of our ISAC students pursue opportunities within public accounting firms and in the last year have been hired by Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, McGladrey, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Wolf & Company.  They have also been hired by top companies including Arbella Insurance, Boston Scientific, Liberty Mutual and Protiviti.  So, if you are interested in the intersection between accounting and information technology, this is the major for you!
